Fyre Festival Founder Billy McFarland Pleads Guilty to Fraud

Billy McFarland, the organizer of the 2017 Fyre Festival, recently plead guilty to two counts of wire fraud. The money was tied to funds he had received from investors in the concert, which totaled more than $1 million, according to prosecutors.
If you remember, the famously disastrous festival was held in the Bahamas. Concertgoers, mainly the rich and famous, were guaranteed luxury accommodations and fancy food. However, they found themselves in hell rather than in a festival. They had to sleep in tents or on the beach and the food wasn’t very good quality. To top it off, everything was in disarray and barely anything had been set up when they arrived. It was just a hot mess.
McFarland is also in trouble for providing false financial information to at least a couple of the investors and mishandling the festival. His sentencing hearing is set for this summer in June.
