Great news for the East!  Sony Music Entertainment has teamed up with one of China’s tech giants, Tencent Music Entertainment Group, to launch Liquid State, an electronic dance label.
The new label will feature both electronic and EDM artists within Asia and abroad.  The first signings to Liquid State include Alan Walker, who already has a huge Asian fanbase, and Asian-American producer ZHU.  Both have ties to Sony as well; Alan Walker is with SME Sweden and ZHU is with Columbia.

Currently, Asia is one of the fastest growing EDM markets and Liquid State will be taking advantage of the fact.  Liquid State will be discovering, developing, and promoting the existing local talent to ensure EDM’s huge growth within the region.

It’s interesting to note t hat Tencent Music Entertainment Group also runs QQ Music, Kuwo Music, and Kugou Music.  All three companies are t here of China’s biggest streaming services.  We look forward to what happens with Liquid State and all of the talent that will emerge from the brand new label.
