Things just got worse for Fyre Festival founder Billy McFarland

News : 30 Jun 2018 :
They say there is no such thing as bad publicity, but in reality things couldn't have been much worse in terms of exposure for the Fyre Festival. Now things actually did get worse for founder Billy McFarland, as two festival-goers have just won a lawsuit which awarded them $5m.
Don't think that just because you went to a festival that was a bit crap (Radio 1's big weekend anyone?) that you can just sue them and get a few million in your back pocket - apparently these guys had it pretty hard.

According to VICE, “Each plaintiff was granted $1.5 million in compensatory damages plus an additional $1 million in punitive damages.” The $1.5 million figure was determined during the trial, and encompassed miscellaneous items like “hotels and flights,” and more “nebulous damages like mental anguish, pain, and suffering.”

Mental anguish? I didn't realise Panic! at the Disco were playing the festival? Sorry (not sorry).

Anyway old Billy is currently sat in a jail soewhere awaiting trial for various things, mostly skipping court appearances and counts of fraud, so we'll update you when he is sent further down the judicial well when he finally appears in court.
